Responsibilities:

YOUR ROLE

An exciting opportunity exists to join the team at Catholic Education Office in the position of Student Engagement and Behaviour Support Project Officer, commencing on 10 March 2025 or as negotiated with the successful applicant. This is a full time continuing position for 40 hours per week.
The role will assist school communities to create safe, inclusive, and culturally responsive learning environments. The Student Engagement and Behaviour Support Project Officer will collaborate with leaders and teachers to foster practices and routines that nurture respectful relationships and provide essential supports for students, helping them to develop behaviours that enable them to self-regulate and successfully engage in learning.

TYPICAL DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

  • Assist schools to align trauma-informed principles with whole-school approaches, learner-centred teaching practices, and classroom management routines that support engagement, wellbeing, and positive behaviour in proactive, preventative, responsive and reparative ways
  • Apply specialist knowledge and professional judgement to assist schools in the selection and implementation of evidence-based behaviour support approaches at universal, targeted and intensive levels
  • Provide schools with practical and direct support for student engagement and behaviour through coaching and modelling of evidence-based practices
  • Build staff knowledge, responsiveness and capacity to provide consistent, fair and equitable responses to behaviours of concern
  • As required, assist in the development of individualised student support plans using the CEDR process for accessing intensive support for students demonstrating behaviours of concern
  • Contribute to a range of capacity and capability building initiatives such as delivery of staff training, consultation, modelling, and the provision of information, strategies, and resources
  • Assist in reviewing or creating policies and procedures at school and system levels
  • Maintain professionalism and confidentiality in all areas of responsibility
  • Maintain relevant documentation required by the role
  • Maintain currency and expertise through ongoing professional development and learning
  • Provide consistent, accurate, well-informed advice to schools in support of attendance concerns.
