Student Health & Welfare Officer (Maternity Cover)

THE ROLE:

As a pivotal part of the pastoral care team, the Student Health & Welfare Officer will lead efforts in ensuring students’ physical and emotional well-being. You will work closely with students, parents, and staff to support student health, manage medical conditions, and promote a positive school environment. Key responsibilities include developing health care plans, administering first aid, supporting mental health initiatives, and liaising with external health professionals.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Lead practitioner for students with medical conditions, creating and reviewing Individual Health Care Plans.
• Administer medicines and first aid, including coordinating emergency medical care.
• Manage the school’s medical supplies and ensure training is provided to staff as required.
• Support mental health initiatives, acting as the school’s mental health first aider.
• Line manage Medical Officers and Counsellors to ensure high standards of care and support.
• Organise staff training in first aid and health-related matters, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements.
• Liaise with external agencies such as CAMHS and MHST to ensure comprehensive support for students.
• Lead the school’s immunisation programme and act as a link with the school nurse team.
