Job title: Student Placements Lead (Work Integrated Learning)

Hybrid: up to 4 days in field across GTA, the rest in office

Position Summary:
The role provides placement support for students in Canadian Universities who are required to complete field work education as part of their Work Integrated Learning program requirements.
As the main point of contact for students and University placement coordinators/ work-integrated leads, this role will grow Lifemark as experiential programs of choice for students. Reporting to the Senior Director, Talent & Employee Experience CoE, you will facilitate the successful placement of students enrolled in Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy programs. That is, acting as the initial and primary contact for new university relationships; generating new placement opportunities; maintaining the existing preceptor base; marketing all student offers to schools.

As a key member of the Employee Experience CoE, you will interact and engage with clinical preceptors, University Ambassadors in Lifemark, Campus Recruiting Lead, and Canadian students to support the experiential process by identifying placements and fostering relationships with students as potential hires.
Your responsibilities will include:

Operations

  • Supporting the students in placement to ease the transition from classroom to field placement.
  • Determining suitability for field placement positions based on program outcomes and ensuring that they meet the university program guidelines.
  • Conducting on-site visits to solicit feedback from the preceptors about student placements to ensure that the students’ learning outcomes are met and that they are a good candidate to hire in the future.
  • Resolving issues by working closely with other Lifemark staff and faculty members during experiential rotations and fostering and maintaining positive relations with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Performing ongoing administration and field placement process improvement
  • Drafting offer placements when matching applicable students.

Communications

  • Continuously updating talent acquisition and employee experience guides ensuring accuracy of information with the most current policies and procedures.
  • Supporting students via the phone, in person, email, written materials, and information sessions by providing information on placement site requirements and processes

Talent Acquisition Coordination

  • Supporting Talent Acquisition events.
  • Collaborating with the Talent Coordinator to track student placement documentation and ensure completeness, including but not limited to, Student Agreements and Student Information Data Sheets as required by universities and Lifemark
  • Submitting Request to Hire and Request to Offer forms to the Talent Coordinator.

Program Reporting and Evaluation

  • Forecasting the number of students who will participate in placement per year and by university.
  • Reporting on student’s placement tracking, escalating student/employment opportunities
  • Providing insights on the student and preceptors experience
  • Collaborating with Campus Recruitment Lead to hand off all successful placements.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Minimum two (2) years’ experience working independently and with a team supporting students/clients in providing career advising, coaching and experiential learning preferably in a post-secondary environment. With experience in developing partnerships in the community service sector.
  • Proven track record of success from past work experience in soliciting universities through various networking strategies including cold calls and emails, research, site visits, events, etc.
  • A Certificate or Diploma in Career Counseling is considered a strong asset.

Skills and Attributes:

  • Expert with Microsoft Office Suite: Data entry and formatting, Maintaining and managing large scale workbooks and worksheets, Ability to create and explain data in visual charts. Creating pivot tables.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with students, field placement partners, faculty, and other parties.Must have excellent presentation skills and persuasion skills to succeed in securing placements for students
  • Proven skills with developing and delivering group presentations.Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize events and oversee the coordination of Universities and Lifemark related special events.
  • Occasional travel is required, e.g., site visits, prospecting within GTA, including some Saturdays
  • Able to lift between 5 to 20 kg or 11 to 44 lbs (i.e., laptop, marketing packages, tables, chairs, displays, banners, etc.)
  • Effective ability to interact with others and deal with situations in ways that respect diverse backgrounds, experience, and styles.
  • Flexibility in adapting to change and in participating in consultative decision-making processes
  • Knowledge of the career services industry and experience within a Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) environment.
  • Regular travel required across Canada up to 10% of the time.
