The College of Computing is seeking to appoint an undergraduate student to undertake a 12-month work placement to support its activities in the design and development of automated systems to aid teaching and learning activities. The successful candidate will have completed year two of a relevant BCU degree with appropriate content to this area.
You will work as part of the College of Computing in the Faculty of Computing, Engineering and the Built Environment.
This is a multi-faceted role where the candidate will be expected to be responsible for activities which will include developing software tools to enable capturing and visualisation of statistical information relating to academic performance, supporting the project manager to meet appropriate deadlines, communicating and collaborating with staff and students to encourage uptake and gather feedback, and much more. There may also be opportunities to contribute to research and / or external activities associated with this area. You may also be asked to contribute to projects involving other departments and faculties in the University.
The position will involve some flexible working during evenings and weekends.
It is anticipated that the successful candidate will be a student on a programme of study that is specific to the above subject area, although students from other College of Computing programmes who can demonstrate equivalent knowledge are welcome to apply. Strong technical, communication, problem solving and presentation skills will be advantageous for this role. A presentation will be required as part of the selection process.
