Opportunity
The Global Technology & Data (GTD) SES Product Team is responsible for custom development and technology support for the Systematic Equities Strategies (SES) team. The Product Team is looking for a talented and motivated student to join us as a Python Developer; in this role, you will work on developing and maintaining tools essential for researching and managing our investment strategies. You will gain hands-on experience in Python development while applying your knowledge of finance and capital markets.

This will be a full-time term position for 4-months from May 2025 through August 2025.
Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of Python-based tools and models used by the Systematic Equities Strategies team.
- Work in an agile environment and collaborate with team members to design and implement new features and enhancements.
- Conduct analysis, testing, documentation, and other tasks throughout the full software development lifecycle.
Our Ideal Candidate Qualifications:
- At minimum, completion of third year undergraduate studies in Computing Science, Information Technology, Finance, or a related field. Enrollment in a Masters program in these same fields would be an asset.
- Proficiency in Python programming.
- Knowledge of financial and capital market topics is highly desirable.
- Strong organization and problem-solving abilities.
- Exceptional attention to detail and an ability to manage multiple tasks and work under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of database technologies (MS SQL Server, Oracle) is an asset.
- Proficient with Microsoft Applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook).
- Involvement in student organizations is an asset.
- Previous financial institution experience or understanding of investments is an asset.
- Demonstrates a strong commitment to AIMCo’s core values of excellence, transparency, humility, integrity, and collaboration, and inspires the same in others.
Success Measures:
As the summer student, you will become familiar with the tools, data, and models used by the Systematic Equity Strategy team. You will contribute to features and bug fixes across a range of investment research tools, while understanding the data flows and processes involved in developing and maintaining these tools. Additionally, you will learn to create and manage tasks using project management tools and become acquainted with AIMCo’s software development lifecycle, contributing to all stages.
