QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Two-year diploma in sales, marketing, public relations, business, advertising, employment counselling or other related fields.
  • 2Minimum of two years’ experience demonstrating excellent customer service, oral and public speaking skills and superior writing ability.
  • Tact, integrity, diplomacy and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Confident, personable and able to engage with customers effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal, problem solving, decision-making and leadership skills.
  • Strong technical multi-media skills including Power Point or other presentation software.
  • Ability to work independently with excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work successfully as part of a team.
  • Must be able to complete evening and/or weekend work.
  • A valid G driver’s license in good standing is mandatory.

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Manager Student Recruitment the duties of the Recruitment Officer are to promote full-time Durham College programs to prospective domestic students. Participate in and conduct a comprehensive student recruiting program to increase applicant market-share and to meet college enrolment targets. This would include participating in student recruitment activities to connect with a variety of audiences including prospective students, parents, guidance counsellors, teachers and community agencies, maintaining and presenting up-to-date knowledge of the programs and services of the college. The Student Recruitment Officer will represent Durham College in a range of internal and external in-person and virtual activities including high school presentations, community events, education and career fairs, open houses, etc. to raise awareness of Durham College’s full-time program offerings while providing exemplary customer service. The primary goal of the Recruitment officer is to ensure that Durham College meets its enrolment targets by generating a strong applicant pool of qualified students.

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive student recruitment program to grow domestic enrolment while promoting 145+ full-time programs to a diverse range of prospective students including those direct from high school and mature adult learners.
  • Provide program, admissions and services information to a diverse range of prospective students including those from high schools and mature adult learners.
  • Provide expert product knowledge while maintaining existing and developing new relationships with school contacts including guidance counsellors and teachers.
  • Organize and participate in system-wide external recruiting activities in Ontario such as College Information Program (CIP), including making all travel arrangements during this time for rental vehicles, and accommodations.
  • Provide basic academic counselling and advises prospective students on program choices and the admissions process.
  • Conduct follow-up visits to key feeder schools to meet with applicants and generate leads and confirmations to programs.
  • Participate in on-campus college events such as secondary school visits, program information nights and open houses where you will advise prospective students, applicants, parents and guidance counselors.
  • Maintain knowledge of college programs by liaising with student recruitment team colleagues, Executive Deans, Associate Deans, Program Coordinators, Administrative Coordinators, Student Advisors and attend meetings as required.
  • Develop and conduct community presentations for student recruitment purposes, as requested by secondary schools and special interest groups.
  • Liaising with secondary school and community agency stakeholders to maintain relationships and provide information sessions and promotional materials to support to their students and clients.
  • Respond to customer inquiries via live chat, email, and telephone calls in a timely and professional manner.
  • Conduct campus tours with prospective students and parents while promoting full-time college programs.
  • Collect prospect student leads that will be captured in the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tool.
  • Follow up with prospective student leads that you generate during student recruitment activities, this may be via email or phone.
  • Lifting boxes of up to 40 lb containing promotional materials and display containers up to 50 lbs.
