Harold Washington College is Seeking a Temporary Student Research Assistant – PT. City Colleges of Chicago’s vision is to be recognized as the city’s most accessible higher education engine of socioeconomic mobility and racial equity – empowering all Chicagoans to take part in building a stronger and more just city. The community college system’s more than 3,500 faculty and staff serve more than 60,000 students annually at seven colleges and five satellite sites.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
- Applicants must have completed at least one 200-level Physical Sciences course with a grade of B or better.
- Applicants must be 18 years or older, have work permit consent, and eligible to work in the United States
- Applicants must be actively attending one of the City Colleges of Chicago
- Applicants must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 semester hours credit classes at City Colleges of Chicago
- Applicants must be pursuing an approved educational credential, degree, or certificate.
- Applicants must have and maintain a minimum cumulative 2.0 GPA (waived for first semester new students)
- Applicants must be in “good standing” – no City Colleges of Chicago academic restrictions.
- Applicants must not be current Full or Part-time employees of the City Colleges of Chicago
- All positions are “employment at-will.”
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma required
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to communicate orally and in writing.

Responsibilities:
- Under the direction of the assigned supervising faculty mentor, performs duties in support of a defined research project, such as literature review, field work, and laboratory experiments.
- Prepares scientific reports and presentations.
- Attends mandatory meetings and workshops.
- Adheres to the City Colleges of Chicago Customer Service Excellence Standards.
