The Department of Bioengineering is looking to hire a graduate student research assistant to support the biomanufacturing non thesis program curriculum in new tools implementation.
Main responsibilities include
- Research advanced software and virtual reality tools to support and enrich teaching of biomanufacturing courses in upstream, downstream and process analytical technology and data sciences concepts and contribute to advanced training of students prior to completing their industrial internship.
- Participate in administering related research and provide feedback and updates to the program supervisor
- Assess the outcomes of these tools in term of reinforcing the courses graduate attributes particularly in the design and optimization of biological processes. And contribute to the acquisition of licenses for the selected tools.
- Contribute to the installation of the software and electronic tools on available hardware in the Bioengineering dept as well as the engineering microcomputing facility to enable access to all students from the Biomanufacturing Program as well as under-graduate students of the Bioengineering Dept.
- Provide support to students access to these new tools
- Assist in the development and organization of research materials for the bioinformatic courses, including compiling and summarizing information
Qualifications
- Currently a registered graduate student at McGill University (MSc or PhD) in Biological, Biochemical or Chemical Engineering.
- Knowledge of biomanufacturing educational tools for Process Sciences and Technology (PSAT)
- Experience / know how of the following software: SuperPro Designer, Matlab-Simulink, GoSilico, COBRA…is an added value
- Experience with software for Bioprocess design and operation are required.
- Good communication skills
- Excellent command of English
