Position Summary:

• They should be prepared to assist with all stages of research including ethics submission, participant recruitment, data collection (e.g. literature reviews, surveys, interviews, focus groups),
• Participate in data analysis, and the drafting, copy-editing and source-checking of submissions to high impact peer reviewed law, bioethics, social scientific and scientific journals.
• Previous experience in research
• Experience with data analysis (qualitative and/or quantitative) and relevant software (e.g. Excel, SPSS, NVivo).
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Flexibility to working on interdisciplinary projects.
• Conduct all research activities within the prescribed period/delay and be able to respect the research ethics as well as the predetermined deadlines.
• Possess excellent interpersonal skills, be able to work in a team and be comfortable engaging with people in-person.
• This is an in-person position. 14 hours minimum during the academic year and full time in the Summer.

Education/Experience:
The research assistant should be a graduate student or at least have a bachelor’s degree in one of the following academic disciplines or equivalent: sociology, anthropology, data science, political science, psychology, public health, counseling psychology and/or ethics/bioethics.

Qualifications:

• Training in qualitative research methods.
• Relevant experience in conducting empirical qualitative fieldwork including interviews, surveys, and/or focus groups.
• Proficiency with qualitative coding/analysis and relevant software (e.g. NVivo, Lime).
• Familiarity with EDI (equity, diversity, and inclusion) considerations in research design and implementation.
• Health policy experience.
• Bilingualism in English and French (spoken and written).

Knowledge of French and English: McGill University is an English-language university where day to day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing. The level of English required for this position has been assessed at a level 4 (qualifier) on a scale of 0-4
