GENERAL INFORMATION:
The Office Advancement Marketing is seeking a creative and detail-oriented student to join our team as a Student Writer & Content Publisher. In this role, you will assist with creating, editing, and publishing content for JMU with a strong focus on web content management. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in marketing, communications, and content management within a JMU office.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience with Cascade CMS: Familiarity with Cascade or similar content management systems is highly preferred.
Strong Writing Skills: Demonstrated ability to write clear, concise, and engaging content.
Attention to Detail: Meticulous approach to editing and proofreading, with an eye for detail.
Digital Literacy: Proficiency in using web publishing tools, social media platforms, and basic knowledge of HTML/CSS.
Time Management: Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Creativity: Innovative thinking to develop fresh and engaging content ideas.
Must be Federal Work Study eligible.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Students must be degree-seeking students, enrolled on at least a half-time basis (6 credits for undergraduate and 5 credits for graduate).
Students must have a 2.0 or better cumulative GPA.

Responsibilities:
Content Creation: Write engaging and informative content for various digital platforms, including the university website, social media, newsletters, and other marketing materials.
Content Management: Assist in updating and maintaining our written content via the JMU website content using the Cascade CMS platform.
Editing and Proofreading: Review content for accuracy, grammar, style, and consistency with the university’s branding guidelines.
Collaborative Projects: Work closely with the marketing team to brainstorm and develop content strategies that align with the university’s goals and objectives.
Graphic Design Assistance: Collaborate with graphic designers to ensure content is visually appealing and on-brand.
