This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic curriculum area. We deliver UAL Awarding Body Qualifications which enable students with an interest in Performing Arts to explore, develop and test their creativity in a demanding and stimulating environment, across various pathways.
We are looking for an exceptional Performing Arts Lecturer, to lead and teach on the high quality Performing Arts courses we have at Abingdon & Witney College. We run three pathways; Musical Theatre, Acting and Dance, and the successful candidate will be required the lead the whole programme, as well as delivering on it. Students come to us with a preference in at least one of those areas, and an understanding that they will be encouraged to develop holistically across all of them. Due to the current skillset of the existing team, it is desirable for the successful candidate to have a specialism in acting and/or a background in Musical Theatre, however other performing arts specialisms would be considered for the right candidate.
The courses are 100% coursework assessed, with additional English and maths. There is a huge emphasis on working towards shows, which are performed in external venues. Students and staff are therefore at times expected to adjust their working pattern to accommodate this i.e. performances may be in the evenings and outside of the regular working pattern.
The ideal candidate would have a creative vision and feel confident leading the implementation programmes, as well as collaborating with other curriculum areas, and ensuring successful outcomes for learners. They will report to the Curriculum Manager.
We offer excellent training opportunities and skills development through our Teaching Skills Academy and training programmes.
Although a teaching qualification is an advantage, training opportunities exist within the College and we can support you in gaining your Award in Education and Training Level 3 Qualification (AET), within your first year of joining the college.
In return, Abingdon & Witney College offer excellent benefits to our employees including generous pension and holiday schemes (with potential Christmas closure days), continued professional development, flexible working options, corporate gym membership, cycle/tech scheme and much more.
