JOB SUMMARY:
This position will serve as the Small Uncrewed Aircraft System (sUAS) on-site Instructor Operator / Customer Trainer (IO/CT) in support of the Security Forces (SF) Division of Headquarters United States Air Forces in Europe – Air Forces in Africa (HQ USAFE-AFAFRICA / A4S). Duties will include providing on-site instruction blocks, mentorship, and hands-on training on PUMA system operations, maintenance procedures, repair/replacement of aircraft’s systems components, field-level maintenance and repairs, and system troubleshooting. Duties will also include providing initial training on emerging Blue sUAS technology and COTS Red sUAS, operating Red sUAS for Counter sUAS testing, training, and exercise events as needed, and managing and logging flights in sUAS Manager (SUASMAN). All training will be conducted in the USAFAFRICA area of responsibility. The IO/CT reports to the HQ USAFE-AFAFRICA / A4S sUAS Program Manager and is expected to perform as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on sUAS instruction, operation, and customer training in accordance with USAF and DoD regulations and policies. Primary duties will require customer interaction and regular travel within the USAFAFRICA AOR, including deployments to remote and austere environments.
REQUIREMENTS:
- U.S. citizen with an Active Secret Clearance.
- Able to communicate effectively with internal and external customers, both written and verbally.
- Basic computer skills are required.
- Able to perform the duties of an Instructor Operator safely and effectively without supervision.
- Candidate must possess strong leadership skills.
- The minimum requirement for sUAS Instructor Operator is that the candidate has 2-5 years of related experience, previous deployments in support of sUAS flight operations, leadership experience, and holds at least two (2) of the following:
- sUAS Operator Certificate
- sUAS Maintainer Certificate
- Mission Coordinator Experience
- Military Instructor Duties
Developing, implementing, and executing Initial and Mission Qualification training.
Preferred Skills and Education:
Candidates holding three (3) or more of the above-listed minimum requirement certifications.
- Prior or current qualification as an IO, SO, or Evaluator.
- Prior experience providing instruction-based training in a classroom environment.
- Experience maintaining and/or repairing sUAS.
- Two years of experience in a related field or equivalent experience.
- Prior military service.
- Familiarity with customers and expectations, policies, best practices, and high customer satisfaction orientation.

Responsibilities:
