SUMMARY:

Headquarters, Department of the Army (HQDA) G9, Directorate of Prevention, Resilience, and Readiness (DPRR) integrates and synchronizes multiple efforts and programs to guide the Army’s objective to build and sustain personal readiness and reduce harmful behaviors.

  • To be considered for this remote position, you must reside within the National Capital Region to facilitate occasional in-person collaboration.

Responsibilities:

NECESSARY SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • Must have demonstrated ability to write, edit, proofread, and draw connection(s) across multiple high-level documents.
  • Excellent grammar, style, technical writing (prepare to provide writing samples).
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Must be detailed oriented.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Understanding of prevention research and literature, public health initiatives (e.g., Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration 2023-2026 Strategic Plan and Public Health Approach), and DoD (e.g., DoDI 6400.11) and Army prevention authoritative guidance (e.g., AR 600-85).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have a Bachelor’s degree with at least 6 years of related experience OR a master’s degree in a related field with 4 years of related experience, OR high school diploma/equivalent with at least 10 years of related and demonstrated work experience.
  • Must be able to obtain a T1 Public Trust clearance; possession of a current clearance is preferred.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience working with the Army, other military Branches, and/or Department of Defense public/community health programs and initiatives.
  • Our ideal candidate would have previous exposure to the most senior levels of the military such as the HQDA, MACOMS, or Army Service Component Commands.
  • Prior experience in the formulation of prevention activities outside of the military space will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
  • Familiarity with Public Health and DoD prevention strategies, like: SAMHSA Strategic Plan, CDC Suicide Prevention Strategies, White House Strategy to Reduce Military and Veteran Suicide, DoD Integrated Primary Prevention Policy for Prevention Workforce and Leaders, Army Comprehensive Integrated Prevention Plan, Army Substance Abuse Program (ASAP) Policy.
  • Exposure to and/or awareness of Army Substance Misuse and Suicide Prevention training: ADAPT Prime for Life, Ask, Care, Escort (ACE) Training, Master Resilience Training, Engage Training, Applies Suicide Intervention Skills Training, etc.
  • Prior experience working with ASAP personnel and programs: Program Managers, Prevention Coordinators, Alcohol and Drug Control Officers, Employee Assistance Program, Risk Reduction Program, Unit Prevention Leaders, and Substance Use Disorder Clinical Care.
    The salary range for this position is $80,000 to $120,000 annually.
