Description:
Doctors Direct have an exciting opportunity for a Speciality Doctor to work with us at Islington in Substance misuse, Psychiatry.
We are looking for a doctor dedicated to, and passionate about, improving health and wellbeing within the Islington Community working for Islington Better Lives Drug and Alcohol Service. This role is based across 2 sites in Islington – one at Kings Cross and one on Seven Sisters Rd.
Responsibilities:
YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES WILL BE TO:
- Providing day-to-day front-line clinical services
- Assessment of drug and alcohol use and dependence and co-morbid psychiatric and physical health problems
- Initiate treatment and sign-controlled drug prescriptions.
- Psychiatric assessment, treatment, reviews and referrals
- Community alcohol detoxification and substitute opioid prescribing (detoxification and harm minimisation approaches)
- Initial medical assessments, treatment reviews, dose reviews
- On-site or satellite clinics in hostels/ home visits/hospitals
- Liaison with local treatment services and partners
- Supporting the building of pathways between mental health teams and the physical health teams
- Attending team meetings
- Clinical supervision of non-medic prescribers, other clinical staff and medical students
- Undertake clinical audit and quality improvement
- Continuing professional development
- Teaching of medical students, junior medical staff & MDT staff
- Supporting the team around teaching professionals in the wider trust as needed around SMS
