As a Subsurface Production Coordinator, you will provide leadership and direction to a team of Field Production Engineers at site and in Calgary to ensure alignment and clarity of daily/weekly objectives and priorities. This is a critical role to ensure maximum oil throughput and optimal steam injection is achieved at Firebag on a daily basis.
In this role, you will provide daily surveillance, operating, and optimization advice to the Firebag Pads and Gathering Production Unit to achieve safe, reliable, and efficient production and injection well operation within dynamic plant(s) handling constraints. You will interface with various teams including leadership to align on priorities.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Seven years of varied engineering experience
  • Undergraduate degree in Engineering
  • Experience in an Operations setting
  • Subsurface technical skillset with SAGD background
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
  • Registered with the association of professional engineers and geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA)

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and coordinate daily production plans and adjustments based on the priorities within the constraints of Central Processing Facilities (oil & water handling, steam generation, gas production)
  • Coordinate and prioritize maintenance and reliability work with consideration to well availability
  • Specific to communication with Well Completions, work to identify, quantify, and align on opportunities to proactively mob/de-mob rigs, go to 24-hour operations, add associated crews to throttle activity as well activity demands, while minimizing Non Productive time for completions services
  • Prepare 2 week production forecast for a weekly Production Committee Meeting
  • Develop ideas and parameters for alerts and use analysis tools to provide daily support and direction to well operations on adjustments required for optimized operation of surface and subsurface equipment
  • Utilize real-time data on a daily basis at a well, pad and field level to steward to the appropriate operating envelopes to ensure reliable, safe, and efficient operations
  • Ensure adequate handover and transition of plant/field operational conditions and any issues to site production engineers for weekend coverage
  • Provide production engineering support to outage and turnaround plans

Location and other Key Details:

  • You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 – 6th Ave S.W.
  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with a 6:30am start time
  • Occasional travel to Firebag as needed
