Job Description

YOUR CONTRIBUTION

CIMA+ is looking for a Co-op Student to join our Transportation team in Saskatoon. This role will require the candidate to perform engineering field services, design, and planning for urban & rural roadway and drainage projects in Saskatchewan.
The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic and motivated individual who will work closely with our team of professional and technical staff in the delivery of design and construction projects for various public and private-sector clients. Industry experience will be considered an asset, but not a requirement. At CIMA+, we are dedicated to fostering the growth of our team members. QUALIFICATIONS

  • Student in Civil/Environmental Engineering Technologies
  • Experience in the use of GPS and conventional survey equipment is an asset
  • Experience in the use of AutoCAD and Civil 3D is an asset
  • Ability to read and interpret design drawings
  • Interest or experience in highway/freeway design and/or (e.g. alignments, geometrics, staging, utilities, quantities and cost estimates, documentation)
  • Knowledge of Saskatchewan Ministry of Highways and City of Saskatoon design and drafting standards is an asset
  • Ability to, at times, work for periods in the field away from the office
  • Ability to lift 20 kilograms
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license
    The salary for this position ranges from $21.00 to $23.00 per hour, depending on your academic profile, the number of credits earned, and your previous co-op or internship experience. The final offer and salary may be adjusted based on your unique profile.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the design and construction of civil engineering projects, including roadways, bridges and culverts
  • Conduct field surveys and investigations related to roadway geometry, safety and drainage
  • Perform topographic surveys for design projects
  • Perform layout surveys for construction projects
  • Administer, report and inspect on the construction of roadway, bridge and culvert projects
  • Prepare memos related to roadway geometry, safety and drainage
  • Use and understand the functionality of AutoCAD and Civil 3D software
  • Aid in the development of design drawings and calculations
  • Participate in Health, Safety, and Environment initiatives
