Job Title: Summer Camp Leader
Location: Greenway-Chaplin Community Centre
Job Type: Seasonal, Full-Time (Summer Only)
Reports To: Program Coordinator
POSITION OVERVIEW:
Greenway-Chaplin Community Center is seeking enthusiastic, responsible, and motivated individuals to join our team as Summer Camp Leaders. As a camp leader, you will be responsible for creating a fun, safe, and engaging environment for children, aged 4-12, attending our summer camp. You will work alongside other camp staff to implement daily activities, provide guidance, and foster a positive camp experience for all participants.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Age Requirement:
- Must be at least 16 years of age or older (additional experience or certifications preferred).
Experience:
- Previous experience working with children in a camp, daycare, or education setting is an asset.
- Experience leading groups or activities is preferred.
Skills and Abilities:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and build rapport with children and fellow staff.
- Ability to work as part of a team and independently.
- High energy, creativity, and a positive attitude.
- Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.
- Basic First Aid and CPR Level C certification is an asset (or willingness to obtain before camp starts).
- HIGH FIVE Principles of Healthy Child Development is an asset (or willingness to obtain before camp starts).

Responsibilities:
Supervise and Lead Camp Activities
- Plan, organize, and lead a variety of recreational, educational, and creative activities, including arts and crafts, sports, games, team-building exercises, and outdoor adventures.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all campers during activities, snack times, free play periods, and off-site trips.
Engage with Campers:
- Build positive relationships with campers to promote a supportive and inclusive environment.
- Encourage social interaction, teamwork, and conflict resolution among campers.
Maintain a Safe Environment :
- Follow all health and safety protocols and procedures to ensure the safety of all campers at all times.
- Report any accidents, injuries, or incidents to the Program Coordinator promptly and provide assistance when necessary.
Provide Leadership and Support:
- Act as a role model by demonstrating leadership, responsibility, and professionalism.
- Guide and mentor all staff and volunteers, ensuring a cohesive team dynamic.
Communication with Parents & Guardians:
- Assist in communicating daily activities and updates to parents or guardians through scheduled communication tools (e.g., newsletter).
- Address any concerns or feedback from parents regarding camper behaviour or camp activities.
Camp Cleanliness and Organization:
- Assist in setting up and cleaning up camp spaces before and after each day.
- Ensure that all camp materials and supplies are organized and properly stored.
