Description:

SUMMARY: Reporting directly to the Recreation Manager, the Summer Games/Summer Activities Programmer is responsible for the promotion, coordination and implementation of summer recreation programs and activities for the Town of Pincher Creek.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Student to be enrolled in related post secondary education such as Recreation Management, Education, Business Administration, and Kinesiology
  • Good communication and positive interpersonal skills
  • Excellent computer skills and familiar with Microsoft Office
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
  • Assets: First Aid, coaching courses, volunteer or work experiences, leadership training, knowledge or experience with summer games and sport
  • Criminal Record Check, Child Welfare Check required prior to hire
    Job Types: Full-time, Seasonal
    Contract length: 4 months
    Pay: $24.81 per hour
    Expected hours: 35 per week

Schedule:

  • Evening shift
  • Monday to Friday
  • Weekends as needed

Responsibilities:

Provide excellent customer service

Serve as the regional contact for the Southern Alberta Summer Games (regional events)

  • Promote the Summer Games (regional events), sports and activities to local athletes
  • Register local athletes for Games attendance
  • Ensure athlete registration fees are entered in cash receipting system and paid registrants are accurately recorded when payment made
  • Provide information to athletes attending the Games (regional events)
  • Attend the Southern Alberta Summer Games (regional events)
  • Provide evaluations to Supervisor and Southern Alberta Recreation Association (if required)
  • Provide final department report with registration numbers, pictures, recommendations etc.

Coordinate and promote the Choosewell/Active Living Challenge and other department initiatives

  • Initiate, develop, promote and implement summer recreational, fitness and sport related programs and activities for all ages within approved budget
  • Provide report of events/programs including attendance, recommendations etc.

Handle administrative duties related to the recreation and community services department

  • Answer incoming telephone calls as back-up or relief
  • Provide reception service for the department
  • Receive and record cash for programs, activities and rentals
  • Accept registrations and bookings for department programs/facilities
  • Respond to public or customer inquiries
  • Maintain good public and staff relations
  • Complete and file office reports and forms as required

Assist with town special events and activities such as Movie in the Park, Children’s Festival, Day on the Creek, Communities in Bloom, beach volleyball, Boredom Busters, Nerf Wars etc., as requested
Assist with department promotions such as brochures, posters etc.
Purchase supplies and goods within budget for department use
Ensure correct waivers and medical forms are completed and filed for all programs and activities

Ensure a safe environment for all programs and activities

  • Adhere to all Town Safety Policies and Procedures
  • File an incident report of any accident or injury with Supervisor

Attend/conduct meetings as required
Provide ongoing communication with department and Town staff
Assist with unforeseen or emergent duties as required
