ABOUT THE ROLE
The Centre for Academic English is a busy and dynamic team of people who believe in, and are committed to, providing the highest quality of academic language and literacy courses to support the research and teaching of STEMM subjects at Imperial College London. The Centre provides a range of courses and workshops to better support university members in communicating their science more powerfully and more effectively. Our sector-leading summer pre-sessional programme is a key part of this provision.
The Centre is seeking to appoint a number of well-qualified, experienced and adaptable full-time EAP tutors who will deliver our 6-week summer pre-sessional course to prospective Imperial postgraduate students. The course is uniquely STEMM-focused as it uses in-house materials designed to engage students with Imperial research and Imperial researchers while acquiring competence and confidence in academic STEMM communication.
WHAT YOU WOULD BE DOING
You will manage two small groups of students (approximately 12-14 students per class) and provide targeted classroom input and feedback to scaffold and monitor students’ development of the discourse and competencies they need to succeed on their chosen degree programme. You will deliver the course on campus but in a paperless bring-your-own-device (BYOD) format with all resources and materials provided online via Microsoft OneNote Class Notebooks, other Microsoft 365 apps and Blackboard.
