Summer Programmer

at  Sturgeon County

The 17-week Summer Programmer position’s main duty is to plan and implement quality summer programs for Sturgeon County children/youth. The position is active from April 28 - August 22, 2025.

KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND EXPERIENCE

• Previous experience working with children and youth in a program setting.
• Valid first aid certificate.
• High school Diploma or equivalent.
• A valid class 5 driver’s license and access to vehicle and ability to complete Defensive Driving course upon hire.
• Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check is required as well as a Child Welfare Intervention Check.
• Post-secondary education in recreation, education or another related field would be an asset.
• Ability to work effectively and efficiently with others and alone with little or no supervision.
• Punctuality, self-motivation, open communication, and ability to take direction well and respond to public inquiries in a calm and friendly manner.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of products.

OTHER RELATED DUTIES (10%)

• Attends scheduled staff meetings.
• Completes a mid and final evaluation on self and co-workers.
• Attends training sessions and workshops as required.
• Adheres to applicable responsibilities and accountabilities as outlined in the Sturgeon County Health and Safety Management System.
