In Alberta, this includes our MacKay River and Dover oilsands projects, Duvernay Shale Gas and a 50% interest in the Grand Rapids Pipeline. In British Columbia, we hold joint venture interests in the Groundbirch tight gas project and LNG Canada.
Reporting to the Manager Oilsands Operations/Field Operations Manager, you will have an opportunity to learn about the oil sands while assisting in the monitoring and operation of our MacKay River SAGD facility. This position is based in the field at our MacKay River Commercial Project in northeast Alberta near Fort McMurray and is a four-month term starting May 2025. The work schedule is 15 days on (12hr) /13 days off. Transportation from approved travel hubs and accommodation at site will be provided.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
The accountabilities of this position may include, but are not limited to:
- Assisting and supporting operations staff with daily tasks, under direction from the Shift Engineer
- Taking part in the operator training program for an assigned unit area
- Supporting and preparing equipment for maintenance
- Providing monitoring and surveillance on assigned area operating equipment
- Following and applying site safe work procedures
- Adhering to and actively participating in all site HSSE policies
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Working towards Power Engineering or Engineering, with at least 1 year completed
- Possession of valid 4th Class Power Engineers Certificate
- Valid Alberta Driver’s License
- Current certification for H2S Alive, WHMIS, TDG, and First Aid
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to work well with diverse personalities and work force
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn and take initiative
- Legally able to work in Canada
- Adoption and demonstration of PetroChina Canada Values (Honorable, Unified, Passionate, Accountable)
