Scion hosts a number of summer students, each with differing specialities, from tertiary institutes across New Zealand at both our Rotorua and Christchurch Campus. The programme involves a student completing a 12-week, full-time, research project under the direction of Scion supervisors (allowing time for holidays over the Christmas and New Year). Students are able to gain hands on, paid, work experience in the field of which they are studying, where they get to work shoulder to shoulder with Scion’s internationally recognised staff.
We are seeking two motivated tauira / student to support the ‘Kia Ora te Waonui’ research pathway.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES NEEDED:

Key skills and attributes are good communication and engagement skills, quality writing skills, creativity, experience in kaupapa and mahi related to ngahere, taiao, kaitiakitanga. The student may be studying Environmental Science, Environmental Planning, Social Science, Ecology, Biosecurity, Biodiversity, Taiao / Pūtaiao. Te Reo me ōna tikanga is welcomed but not essential.

You will be passionate in ngahere, kaitiakitanga, and various forms and approaches to quality rangahau. You will work closely with the project and portfolio leader, and work across various science fields to collate and highlight key research, climate and cultural considerations.
