Description:

SUMMARY

Reporting to the Manager, Finance & Administration, the Superintendent, Contracts is responsible for oversight of contract management processes and system; supervise and develop the team of contract specialists; development and execution of annual contracts plan; development and coordination of complex commercial contracts; leading contract negotiations; enforcement of the global procurement policy and procedures including any local specific requirements; maintaining a sustainable sourcing process with First Nations, local businesses and strategic partners; collaboration with cross-functional teams to optimize procurement processes; leading a culture of continuous improvement; and implementing innovative contract management practices to enhance operational efficiency and achieve business objectives.

EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Post-secondary education in business, finance, or law. Supply Chain degree or industry-recognized designations such as Certified Purchasing & Supply Professional (CPSP), Certified Professional Contract Manager (CPCM) or Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) would be advantageous.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in contract management and administration with previous experience in mining industry.
  • At least 3 years’ experience of leading any Supply Chain function with direct reports.
  • Advanced knowledge and experience within the purchasing/contracting functions.
  • Strong negotiation, oral and written communication skills
  • Experience managing teams in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience working with Impact Benefit Agreements
  • Results oriented to ensure prioritization and focus on accountability and results.
  • Ability to build and foster positive relationships with all levels within the company and external vendors and stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated, team player with a positive attitude, ability to give direction.
  • Knowledge of SAP is an asset.
  • Valid Driver’s Licence.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership guidance to the contract specialist team and develop skills and abilities of direct reports through ongoing performance measurement, creating a high-performance culture, and mentoring team members.
  • Support to develop and execute a comprehensive contract management strategy aligned with business objectives, mitigating risks and ensuring compliance with global procurement policies.
  • Systematically identify and prioritize contracting needs, set clear quantifiable targets and perform strategic and tactical planning to deliver effective contracting services to the business.
  • Prepare spend analysis and recommend sourcing initiatives.
  • Develop, issue, and manage tender documents (RFPs, RFQs, RFIs, etc.).
  • Negotiate commercial terms, ensuring they meet requirements of the business and lead proposal analysis and proposal commercial evaluations.
  • Assess, evaluate, analyze, and interpret contract or agreement terms and conditions and recommend alternative language, solutions and/or assist in resolving any supplier risk compliance, or performance issues, as necessary.
  • Prepare and review contractual documents utilizing industry best practices and in adherence to the Global Supply Chain Policy by liaising with end users, corporate supply chain, legal and insurance, and site supply chain teams.
  • Provide day to day contract administration support, manage and administer the full life cycle of the procurement and contracts processes including organizing contract records and maintaining a contract registry to track contract status, expiry dates and exceedances.
  • Develop reporting tools and templates to measure performance of contracted parties against agreed to supply and/or service commitments
  • Ensure team’s effectiveness and performance through maintaining and reporting KPIs for opportunities, accuracy and transparency.
  • Ensure compliance with the Global Procurement Policy and Procedures as well as local and First Nation sourcing commitments.
  • Collaborate with the Superintendent, Supply Chain on maintaining continued development of a long-term sustainable sourcing processes with First Nations, local businesses and strategic contracting parties.
  • Continuously update expertise, including the broader market trends, developments of new practices and processes to ensure the Company benefits from cost effective delivery of supply chain services to the business.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships to ensure understanding of business needs and ensuring the delivery of contracting services in a cost effective and timely manner.
  • Perform other duties as required in support of Company objectives.
