It is a great time to join our Civil business. We have plenty on the go, and we have a positive future pipeline of work ahead.
Our Civil team is a division of the business specialising in Infrastructure Construction, based around reinforced concrete. We are currently delivering work ranging from Bridges and Wharves to Water Treatment Plants and Storage Tanks and Pipelines and are looking for a Superintendent to join our team.

Working for our Northern Civil team, you will drive operational delivery supporting day to day operations, troubleshooting, providing leadership and mentoring for our teams. You will have energy, construction knowledge and the capability to be hands on, coach on various technical elements and ensure work is completed to deadline and the highest quality. In addition, you will have responsibility for the following:

  • Managing the day to day work activities to ensure the project progresses as required
  • Complying with Fulton Hogan Health and Safety policies on all aspects of work
  • Encouraging development of staff within project teams across the Northern Area.
  • Engaging with staff, clients and subcontractors on a daily basis.
  • Assisting with long term sustainable growth through client/subcontractor relationships.
  • Developing internal capability.
  • Managing a safe work environment for all employees, subcontractors and public on all your sites.
  • Procuring and co-ordinating resources safely and efficiently across planned works.
  • Supervising projects in a profitable and efficient manner ensuring the highest quality standards.
  • Providing onsite leadership and encourage the growth and development of your project teams.

We are looking for someone with:

You will have a background and experience in heavy civil construction and can lead a team/group of teams to deliver the required outcomes with a solutions approach in a dynamic environment. You will be motivated, productive and share the same respect we do for creating an enjoyable and safe working environment. You build lasting relationships with key stakeholders and be able to demonstrate the following:

  • At least 10 years’ industry experience in a supervisory role.
  • Experience working in the structures and heavy civils sphere on large infrastructure projects in New Zealand.
  • Proven experience building strong, reliable and high performing teams around you.
  • The ability to interpret and deliver to plans.
  • Good knowledge of construction methodology and best practice.
  • Able to assess information, evaluate solutions and devise appropriate course of action.
  • Computer literate in basic IT skills.
  • An ability to relate to a wide range of people.
  • Ability to problem solve with minimum supervision.
  • Drive to motivate your team to achieve productivity, goals and deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with high attention to detail.
  • Good understanding of forward planning around personnel/plant. Having this strategy well communicated to relevant individuals within the business to facilitate success.
