FINDING BETTER WAYS TO PROVIDE THE MATERIALS THE WORLD NEEDS.

We are looking for a strong, collaborative people leader to partner with the elected members of the Weipa Town Authority in conjunction with Rio Tinto and the broader community. This is an extensive role spanning across a significant portfolio of external stakeholders including regulatory, local and federal agencies.
This is a great opportunity for a highly effective communicator who will be responsible for leading a diverse team. You will be representing the Weipa Town Authority and will be responsible for building, planning and managing a range of applications, strategies, and projects across the entire community.

Reporting to the Manager Core Services and working in a challenging and exciting environment, you will be:

  • A highly engaged participant in the Weipa Town Authority membership;
  • Managing building and planning applications, communications and strategy;
  • Working with consultants on the tourism strategy and partnering with our elected members of the WTA;
  • Leading key projects and overseeing the execution of these projects such as the Weipa sporting complex, town upgrades and various other infrastructure projects;
  • Responsible for the financial management and reporting requirements including rates, the allocation of rate funding, audits and annual reporting processes;
  • An active member of the local disaster management group;
  • Managing critical risks and ensuring the safety of the community as a priority;
  • Developing the strategy for the corporate plan with community consultation to ensure the successful implementation of the operational plan is met.
