The role
Fugro is now recruiting for a Supervising Quality Assurance / Quality Control (QAQC) Engineer to join our Geotechnical Laboratory based in Wallingford, Oxfordshire. The laboratory uses state of the art equipment to analyse soil and rock samples from our projects around the world. As Supervising Quality Assurance / Quality Control Engineer, your role will be to perform Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) checks and approvals for laboratory test results, inclusive of all routine testing and effective stress tests performed to BS1377, ISO and ASTM standards. In addition, you will assist in the processing and reporting of advanced test methods and support with responding to queries from stakeholders regarding project progress. You will work as part of a team on projects from the renewable energy sector ensuring high quality results are delivered to Fugro’s engineering departments on time and you will strive for continuous improvement by identifying and reporting problem areas in the process.

  • You have an eye for detail and are able to maintain focus while delivering high quality results;
  • You enjoy generating new ideas for new/improved solutions & analyses potential impacts/effects.

Essential skills

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in geotechnical/civil engineering or a relevant scientific or numerical subject;
  • Relevant laboratory or engineering experience ideally in the testing and issuing of laboratory tests and reports;
  • Excellent numeracy and literacy skills;
  • Excellent IT skills particularly in creating, modifying and using MS excel spreadsheets with embedded macros.

Here’s what a typical day would be like:

  • Checking your assigned projects for new data to be issued;
  • Checking the results pass both technical and formatting criteria;
  • Answering any internal/external client comments relating to deliverables;
  • Troubleshooting issues that arise in the digital delivery production line.
  • Excellent IT skills particularly in creating, modifying and using MS excel spreadsheets with embedded macros.
