QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Recruitment Standards:

  • Bachelor of Social Work or relevant and 1-year related experience or Diploma in related field with 4 years relevant experienceClass 5 Drivers License

Preference will be given to those who have:

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of Indigenous culture and community connections.
  • Experience working with youth in a counseling or support role.
  • Excellent problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with community resources and programs available to support youth with addiction issues.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with best practices in addiction counseling.

Responsibilities:

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of youth struggling with addiction? Join our dedicated team and be a part of their journey to recovery.
As a Supervisor Addiction Counselor, you will play a crucial role in supporting youth with substance use problems. You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to develop individualized care plans, provide direct client services, and offer education and referrals. Your work will incorporate a continuum of addiction recovery therapies, integrating trauma-informed perspectives and cultural considerations, particularly Indigenous culture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Education: Provide psycho-educational groups and ongoing education to staff on addiction-related topics.
  • Referrals: Build relationships with community partners and Alberta Health Services to ensure up-to-date addiction-related services and referral processes.
  • Counseling: Conduct addiction assessments, provide individual and group counseling, and integrate addiction services into overall health supports.
  • Practice Enhancements: Act as a practice resource, conduct regular evaluations of addiction services, and support addiction-related initiatives.
  • Supervisory:
  • Supervise all Addiction Counselors across PCBCs to ensure high-quality service delivery.
  • Support staff in building their capacity in their practice approach, including analysis of information and theory/research to practice.
  • Conduct regular evaluations of addiction services and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Identify training needs and opportunities to support ongoing learning in the addictions area.Ensure Indigenous healing practices and culture are fully integrated into addiction services, respecting other cultural considerations and needs.
