DESCRIPTION

The Supervisor Coding is accountable for the development and operations of the coding/abstracting acute-care services. This role includes working with key stakeholders across Providence; developing and executing strategic plans around acute-care coding/abstracting and clinical documentation (coding-related) improvement initiatives; participating in, leading, and partnering with others on strategic and tactical integration efforts; ensuring a compliant, effective, and streamlined operational experience for Coding. This leader, therefore, will need to have strong training, communication, technical, and leadership skills.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Coursework/Training AHIMA approved coding certificate program is required for those who do not have the RHIA or RHIT certification.
  • Bachelor’s Degree. Or equivalent educ/experience.
  • upon hire: National Certification from American Academy of Professional Coders. Or
  • upon hire: National Certified Coding Associate - American Health Information Management Association. Or
  • upon hire: National Certified Coding Specialist - American Health Information Management Association. Or
  • upon hire: National Certified Coding Specialist - Physician - American Health Information Management Association. Or
  • upon hire: National Certified Documentation Improvement Practitioner - American Health Information Management Association. Or
  • upon hire: National Certified Health Data Analyst - American Health Information Management Association. Or
  • upon hire: National Registered Health Information Administrator - American Health Information Management Association (Vendor Managed) Or
  • upon hire: National Registered Health Information Technician - American Health Information Management Association.
  • 3 years ICD-10 Coding experience.
  • Proven history of proactively identifying, resolving and escalating issues that impact business and documentation outcomes. Showing good decision-making skills based upon a mixture of analysis, experience, and judgment. Organizing and planning with demonstrated ability to effectively manage time and achieve results in a fast-paced environment. Epic experience.
