Description:
Job Summary:
Develops programs and resources to collaborate with schools and communities so appropriate lessons of Cherokee culture and history can be delivered through in-person presentations and online platforms.
Job Duties:
Coordinates the development of cultural and history appropriate lessons, presentations and activities for outreach to public schools, community events and youth camps.
Establishes and maintains a record keeping, documentation and service tracking system for the program.
Prepares and submit reports as required.
Conduct and coordinate staff training as needed.
Develops, schedules and oversees Cherokee cultural outreach activities in public schools and communities (classes, seminars, storytelling etc.).
Develops curricula packages, materials and media for distribution to education institutions and communities.
Maintains contacts and awareness concerning tribal, state and federal initiatives related to culture and history.
Assists in development and administration of grants to expend programming.
Identifies appropriate partners and programs
Assists with meetings and events.
Other duties may be assigned.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT
Master’s degree; no substitutions.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT
At least seven (7) years of experience in a related field.
COMPUTER SKILLS
An individual should know Accounting software, Database software, Human Resource systems, Internet software, Order Processing systems, Payroll systems, Spreadsheet software, and Word Processing software.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
The employee must not be and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA) or listed on the OIG’s Cumulative Sanction Report, or the GSA’s List of Excluded Providers, or listed on the OIG’s List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE).
Must meet and maintain pre-employment and periodic background investigation and adjudication for child care.
Responsibilities:
Directly supervises five (5) to twenty (20) employees in the Cultural Resources Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities following the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
