Kemira’s Paper division offers the pulp and paper industry high-end products and applications, and outstanding know-how and service in order to optimize customers’ manufacturing processes and to increase their productivity and profitability. Our solution to meet cost-efficiency requirements and more stringent environmental regulations is to develop products that improve water circulation and water treatment in pulp and paper manufacturing.
As part of our Paper division, we are looking for an EHSQ Specialist to lead and administer a proactive safety program to assure a positive safety culture throughout the St. Catharines plant, and also administer the Quality system.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist staff to ensure compliance with all EHS regulations through procedure development, auditing and document management. Act as technical resource and provide guidance for plant management to operate the facility in an environmentally responsible manner.
  • Conduct and manage the safety program training for the plant.
  • Responsible for all phases of plant laboratory operations and for the plant’s quality control/quality assurance systems, including coordination of the ISO certification program.
  • Propose and facilitate integration of EHSQ principles into standard operations.
  • Review current operations for compliance with EHSQ practice and regulatory compliance.
  • Keep informed of EHS legislative changes affecting plant operation. Educate and Train employees on laws and regulations affecting them.
  • Participate in monitoring critical process variables and critical equipment concerns that bear a direct impact on EHSQ, and work with plant staff on implementing EHSQ related projects.
  • Participate actively in incident (safety and environmental) investigations.
