PSE’s Electric Operations team is looking for qualified candidates to fill an open Supervisor Grid Management Technology position!
Specific details regarding the work arrangements for this position will be discussed in further detail during the interview process.
JOB DESCRIPTION
You will be leading a team of technologists and engineers that are addressing real-time distribution grid operational challenges, improve grid reliability, resiliency and developing the technology to enable the implementation of clean energy solutions.
Upholds the safety compliance standards inherent in PSE’s operating and/or field procedures related to work responsibilities. Promotes and supports a culture of total safety.
Demonstrates commitment to conduct business honestly, ethically and consistent with our core values and Code of Conduct. Ensures duties are performed in accordance with all regulatory compliance obligations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil Engineering or other appropriate engineering field (a WA State Professional Engineering license may be considered in lieu of a degree).
- 3+ years of Operations or technical leadership experience
- Extensive experience in engineering systems analysis and planning
- Demonstrated experience in working effectively and collaborating with a wide range of internal and external customers
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 5 years prior experience with electrical engineering designs and specifications.
- Working experience in the following:
- Network modeling.
- Geographic Information System (GIS).
- SAP plant maintenance or other related SAP modules.
- Mapping electric distribution systems and substation configurations.
Responsibilities:

- Leads a new Operations Technology team responsible for:
- Grid Management System Support Team responsible for maintenance of dynamic electric system model. Facilitates resolution of emergent technical issues.
- Partners/collaborates with other PSE teams to operationalize emerging grid modernization technologies.
- Engineering support of real time distribution operations to develop contingency plans, analyze and look for options to manage system constraints, provide support to complex equipment issues.
- Integrating onto project team as a partner leading new grid mod technology Supporting grid mod tool development, delivery, implementation and maintenance of new technology tools used in grid operations.

- Creates, reviews and modifies schematics of the network electrical model (NEM) system.
- Provides system administration, including designing and configuring operational rules.
- Performs high level load flow analysis and estimates related to decisions on switching lines, controlling equipment and devices and customer loads.
- Handles complex problems related to system issues and data inconsistencies.
- Ensures system reliability and stability:
- Proactively monitors and measures system reliability and performance and works with Operations Team and Engineers to develop solutions.
- Ensures compliance with codes, standards as well as design, operations and maintenance requirements.
- 24 x 7 in support of emergency response work as requested, including immediate and extended rotation efforts driven by weather and other system failures.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
