EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Masters degree (MA/MS) in Social Work, Mental Health, Guidance and Counseling, or closely related human service field from an accredited college or university; and two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

PURPOSE OF POSITION

Coordinates the general daily operations of the program to achieve program goals. Provides direct client service. Supports the leadership team as needed for the benefit of the program.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Applies appropriate techniques and standards in program development and service delivery case management for participants of Samaritan House in achieving their goals.
  • Implements program objectives and case management performance standards as directed by supervisor, management and the Veteran Administration (VA).
  • Provides leadership to Case Management Veteran Program and Client Services staff in administering the Agencys mission, ministries and policies, consistent with Catholic Charities mission and values and the teachings of the Catholic Church.
  • Follows budget as set by Associate Director. Provides input into process.
  • Maintains accurate and timely program statistical data to meet reporting requirements. Enters data and generates reports.
  • Uses program statistics to monitor and evaluate services and outcomes. Recommends, develops and implements improvements as appropriate.
  • Assists in the management and oversight of participants through case management strategies, teaches and models appropriate social skills.
  • Develops and maintains professional relationships with community-based organizations, parishes and corporations to extend the reach of services and community support. Maintains professional ties with other service organizations/boards/committees for the benefit of the program.
  • Oversees process groups to help veterans cope with the experience of homelessness and reintegration process into housing.
  • Manages a small case load of higher acuity clients determined by program needs.
  • Coordinates the Special Needs program at Courtyard Commons, including but not limited to substance use, mental and physical health, housing, and finances.
  • Creates and implements psychoeducational groups including stress management, health, and wellness.
  • Reflects Catholic Charities commitment to treating all persons with dignity and respect.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

May provide supervision as applicable.

  • Effective interpersonal and written communication skills
  • Ability to effectively manage conflict and crises
  • Ability to use computer software for data entry, budgeting and report writing
  • Ability to effectively lead and motivate staff through application of Agency values
  • Knowledge of the service populations cultural and socioeconomic characteristics and the appropriate techniques and practices for the client population.
  • Ability to interact effectively as a team member and independently with Agency staff and with a diverse client base.
