Description:
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Professional Practice Supervisor reports to the Professional Practice Manager and is responsible for the practice and supervisory functions for Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, PTA/OTA and Kinesiology, Speech Language Pathology, Dietitians, and Social Work. The Supervisor partners with the Manager to ensure that patient care is delivered safely and consistently in accordance with the standards set by the organization, the various health professions, and their governing regulatory bodies. Thisis achieved through the development of practice standards, high performing inter professional teams, health human resource management, safe and efficient staffing assignments and collaborative relationships with paired leaders. The Supervisor contributes to service excellence in partnership with the Manager, through continuous monitoring and identification of improvement initiatives and teamwork to enhance access, coordination and continuity of care. The incumbent will participate in the recruitment ofclinical staff and will also be responsible for the coordination of student allied health clinical externships and clinical extern recruitment strategies in partnership with their nursing counterpart. The incumbent contributes to corporate initiatives and efforts to enhance Toronto East Health Network’s mission, vision, values and goals.
EDUCATION
- Undergraduate degree from a Health Science or Health Administration-related program
- Master’s Degree with a focus on leadership and/or healthcare administration preferred
- Current Ontario professional registration/license issued by the incumbent’s licensing body (i.e., CDO, CRTO, CNO, CPO, COTO, OCSWSSW etc.)
EXPERIENCE
- Demonstrated incremental healthcare leadership responsibilities
- 5 years recent and related clinical experience in one of the following disciplines: Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Language Pathology, Social Work or Registered Dietitian
- 3 years’ recent relevant supervisory/managerial experience in a unionized hospital environment preferred
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively to build relationships and engage teams in the pursuit of best practice and quality care
Demonstrated ability to be flexible, organized, and self-directed within scope of responsibility - Demonstrated excellence in communication (oral and written), interpersonal, organizational, and coaching skills
Demonstrated knowledge of patient/staff scheduling systems, payroll systems, workload management systems
- Demonstrated computer literacy with competence in ATA, Powerchart, Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, and internet use
- Takes initiative and shows independent judgment
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task, problem-solve with proven critical and creative thinking skills
Evidence of ongoing education (e.g. workshops, seminars, etc.) and upgrading of technical skills and knowledge
