Description:

DESIRED COMPETENCIES AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Seven (7) years in an open pit mining environment with Four(4) years in supervision is preferred. 5 years’ experience using Heavy Equipment such as Loaders, Dozers, Haul Trucks, Shovels and Crushers;
  • A Nunavut Supervisory Level II qualification, or ability to obtain same;
  • Ability to prioritize projects and manage time; and
  • Strong experience in coaching and developing talent.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate scheduling of operators and equipment to achieve production goals for tonnes, grade, stripping and equipment utilization in a safe, environmentally sound, and efficient manner;
  • Review and monitor key operating targets including safety, attendance, productivity, quality control, and environmental compliance;
  • Assign, prioritize and supervise all mine operations tasks and activities with an emphasis on safety;
  • Lead and mentor the operations team to ensure professional development and career growth opportunities;
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation including reports and KPIs;
  • Participate in the detailed planning and setup for cross shifts;
  • Develop and maintain relationships with Cross-functional departments onsite;
  • Work under the direction of the Superintendent, Open Pit to facilitate the completion of the mine plan and other duties as assigned; and
  • Promote and maintain adherence to all Health, Safety, Environmental and Community Relations standards.
