QUALIFICATIONS

  • Post-secondary education in Food Sciences, Dairy Technology, Microbiology, or other related education/experience is an asset.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ progressive experience (an asset if in the Dairy or Food manufacturing environment);
  • Thorough knowledge of Dairy operations with emphasis on processing and sanitation.
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Proficient with Kronos is an asset.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills, demonstrated through previous experience.
  • Must be self-motivated, results oriented, possess high degree of initiative, work well under pressure.
  • Able to motivate and effectively manage a large group of employees, ensuring a professional and positive environment.
  • Strong written, oral communication and mathematical skills.
  • Attention to detail.

Responsibilities:

SUMMARY OF TASKS

Reporting to the Production Manager, the Production Supervisor role forms a key part of our leadership team. The Production Supervisor is responsible for leading our production employees and overseeing the day-to-day operations to ensure the proper allocation of resources and objectives are met for quality, health and safety, food safety, efficiency.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensures the safe, efficient, and effective use of the workforce, equipment, and material resources.
  • Provides leadership, direction, guidance, supervision, evaluation, motivation, and training of production employees.
  • Schedules equipment and personnel to ensure production requirements/targets are met on a timely basis.
  • Effectively uses operational data daily to measure and communicate trends; reinforces positive results and initiates corrective actions as appropriate.
  • Ensures that both Company and Governmental quality, sanitation and environmental standards are met, as well as frequent review and implementation of such Policies.
  • Liaises with the Maintenance Department to minimize downtime and ensure product safety and quality.
  • Always ensures safe conditions; takes appropriate action to protect the health and safety of employees.
  • Responsible for personnel management including performance and disciplinary conversations.
  • Comply, communicate, and ensure compliance of team with all Saputo Saskatoon policies and procedures.
  • Comply, communicate, and ensure compliance of team with all Saputo Saskatoon Health and Safety, and Food Safety and Quality regulations.
  • Supports and maintains Saputo Dairy Products Canada G.P.’s product quality standards.
  • Attend scheduled shift regularly and punctually, ready to fulfil all duties required.
  • Focus on customer satisfaction.
  • Builds and maintains effective internal and external relationships and other duties as required.

Cheese Making:

  • Monitor cheese production and raw receiving, whey processing and Dryer operation.
  • Monitor cheese/milk quality and participate in any resolution to key indicators.
  • Take inventory and order supplies and ingredients needed for cheese making, raw receiving, pasteurizing.
  • Perform physical verifications of Standard Operating Procedures throughout department.
  • Issue all hold tags and deviations according to procedures.
  • Communicate with other Supervisors and Production Manager regarding production needs and maintenance issues.
  • Track yields and moistures to ensure consistency throughout product.
  • Schedule personnel based on staffing requirements.
  • Conduct orientations and training with new employees.
  • Implement new procedures as necessary and verify completeness.
  • Ensure employee safety is maintained and food safety is upheld.
  • Ensure all equipment is in proper working order and repaired accordingly.
  • Assist in production of cheese as necessary.
