About the Role
The Supervisor, Research Associate provides the leadership, management and oversight of a group of approximately 6-10 research associates assigned to a facility within the In-life Division of Scientific Services. Manages procedures, processes and work schedules to facilitate the proper conduct of study work and promotes the efficient utilization of staff. Communicates and collaborates with study directors, managers and subject matter experts regarding the planning and execution of GLP/Non-GLP study protocols. Actively monitors staff performance and ensures the delivery of high standards of technical competency, animal care, data quality and regulatory compliance. Leads and contributes to the training and development of staff within their group and promotes high levels of staff engagement.

What You’ll Do Here

  • Maintains the facility’s Resource Management Tools and Capacity Planners.
  • Liaises with the In-Vivo Manager in the provision of resources necessary to support forecasted workloads.
  • Reviews study protocols in conjunction with In-Vivo Manager and Study Director.
  • Proactively assesses and remediates risk and closely supervises the planning and execution of key study events.
  • Actively manages staff by planning and assigning tasks, setting clear expectations through the conduct of daily huddles.
  • Supervises staff through short interval follow up, identifies and resolves variances to plan and performance issues.
  • Manages staff attendance, approves times cards and authorizes and controls the need for overtime.
  • Promotes and drives high standards of procedural compliance, protocol adherence and data quality.
  • Manages and publishes key performance indicators (KPIs) and engages with the facility staff to drive improvements and optimize the performance.
  • Actively promotes high standards of animal welfare.
  • Monitors the observation and documentation of animals requiring special attention and engages with the veterinary group and study director in the provision of appropriate care.
  • Ensures that the facility and equipment are serviced and maintained in an efficient and compliant manner.
  • Manages the facility’s consumable levels and requests specialist equipment and materials to support study needs and animal care.
  • Monitors environmental conditions and controlled temperatures stores; manages the documentation, reporting and remediation of environmental excursions.
  • Engages with customers, auditors and regulatory bodies in the presentation of our facilities, data and staff capabilities.
  • Assists in the selection and recruitment of operational staff.
  • Actively manages and oversees their training and development.
  • Prepares and conducts performance reviews, assesses competency and maintains staff training records.
  • Collaborates with the Director of In-Vivo Operations, In-Vivo Manager and other key personnel, to optimize operational processes, refine technical procedures and enhance the services offered to our customers.
  • Directly Supervises: Animal Technicians and/or Animal Caretakers.

What You’ll Need to Succeed

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from four-year College preferred; or over three years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • AALAS Certification preferred

What We Offer
The pay range estimated for this position is $67,500 to $85,000 per year. Please note that hourly rates/salaries vary within the range based on factors including, but not limited to, prior relevant experience, skills, education, certification, location as well as internal equity and market data.
