Description:

Shift: Days, evenings, weekends, and holidays. 40 hours a week during hours of operation: 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM
Department: Patient Access – Urgent Cares
Urgent Care Locations: Columbia, Boonville and Mexico, MO.

Compensation:

  • Base Pay Range: $25.32 - $39.99 per hour, based on experience
  • Shift Differentials: Additional $2.00 per hour for weekend shift

DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION

Oversee the staff work and assignments for urgent care locations in the MU Health System. Responsible for staffing multiple physical locations, outside of normal business hours, offsite from the hospital campus. This includes staff assigned at rural locations seven days a week. Develop training plans and trains with employees to ensure employees have the necessary expertise to function effectively. Responsible for assisting, escalating, and root-causing issues that arise or impact the Patient Access departments and Urgent Cares.
This could include patient throughput, patient experience, as well as stakeholder and clinical customer departments. Prioritize and reassign workload based on business goals and distribute tasks to team members as necessary to align with department key performance indicators. Collaborate with other revenue cycle departments to ensure optimal revenue cycle performance including reduction in accounts receivable, improved collections, and patient financial experience. Stay informed and current on revenue cycle regulatory guidelines, regulations, or rules. This includes but is not limited to Medicare Conditions of Participation, federal and state regulations and laws, etc.
Responsible for leading, training, and remaining patient surge ready to align with the organization’s incident command and emergency preparedness plan. Responsible for Employee Performance Management (goals, delegating, feedback, performance reviews). Provide ongoing guidance to employees in the form of ongoing coaching and counseling. Collaborate and work with clinical department leaders to achieve expected outcomes or initiatives. Assist management in interviewing, selecting, and training staff.
Review staff work in progress for adherence to appropriate methods and procedures and completion of work in a timely manner. Instruct and advise staff on changes in policies, procedures, and work standards. Monitor staff workload and productivity in order to meet the department’s workload and productivity standards. Assist management in monitoring department operations and objectives to ensure quality services are being provided. Monitor time and attendance in alignment with MU Health Care policies and practices, ensuring accuracy of records and timely submittal/approval for payroll purposes. May complete unit/department specific duties and expectations as outlined in department documents.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in business, social science, or a related area, or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities can be acquired. Two (2) years of experience in healthcare, revenue cycle, patient admissions, supervision, or related expertise.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.
