Description:

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.

EXPERIENCE

  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience in purchasing and supply chain management, including at least 5 years in a management position.
  • Experience in the agricultural sector and knowledge of the crop protection industry would be an asset.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Demonstrated success in developing and implementing procurement strategies, managing supplier relationships, and achieving cost savings.
  • Strong contract negotiation, financial analysis, and budget management skills.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and build consensus across the organization.
  • Proven ability to develop and manage a high-performing team.
  • Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Experience with procurement software and tools (e.g., ERP systems, contract management systems).
  • Due to the nature of the role requiring interaction with national customers, bilingualism in French and English would be preferred but is not required for this position.

Responsibilities:

YOUR ROLE

Under the supervision of the Vice President, supply Chain, the Director – Crop Protection is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of the procurement function within his/her business area. This includes developing and implementing procurement strategies, managing supplier relationships, overseeing the procurement team, and ensuring that purchases are made in a cost-effective and timely manner. The incumbent is also responsible for establishing robust processes and controls to ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and company policies. Sollio Agriculture’s Crop Protection sector includes the supply and distribution of products through all cooperative, joint venture and wholesale networks.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

This position requires handling, managing and/or supervising the tasks described below:

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies to optimize the organization’s purchasing power and obtain the best value for money from suppliers. This includes identifying opportunities for cost reduction, supplier consolidation and process improvement.
  • Establish and maintain business partnerships with key suppliers to ensure that the organization receives the best possible service, quality and price.
  • Negotiate contracts, establish long-term agreements and manage supplier performance and risk.
  • Continuously monitor and evaluate supplier performance, provide feedback and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Oversee the end-to-end procurement process, including requisition analysis, supplier selection, contract negotiation, order placement and tracking.
  • Maintain sound procurement processes and controls to ensure compliance with laws, regulations and company policies.
  • Develop and manage procurement budgets, ensuring that purchasing decisions are cost-effective and in line with the organization’s financial objectives.
  • Monitor and report on purchasing performance indicators, identifying areas for improvement and taking necessary corrective action.
  • Analyze procurement data and trends to identify opportunities for cost reduction, efficiency improvement and risk mitigation.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and senior management to understand their needs and requirements, and develop procurement plans to meet those needs.
  • Manage, develop and motivate the procurement team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration and innovation.
  • Provide guidance, coaching and support to ensure the team achieves its objectives and strategic priorities.
  • Participate in continuous harmonization improvement initiatives relating but not limited to process implementations, daily work instruction, procedure development and governance on best business practices.
