SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

The successful candidate will need to be proactive and flexible, with the ability to work independently and also as part of a team. They will need to possess good communication skills and should be comfortable with negotiating. You will be experienced in the use of, and implementation of MRP tools and have a strong understanding of global logistics regulations and pharmaceutical compliance requirements. The successful candidate will have 3+ years of supply chain experience in the cell and gene therapy field and 5+ years’ experience working for a biotech / pharma or logistics company with evidence of continued professional development.

Materials Requirements Planning (MRP):

  • Develop and manage MRP systems to ensure optimal inventory levels of raw materials, components, and finished goods.
  • Collaborate with procurement, suppliers, and quality teams to ensure the timely availability of materials, especially in the context of GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) requirements. Procurement for internal laboratory activities will also be required.
  • Monitor material usage, forecast demand, and adjust supply plans to avoid shortages or excess inventory.
  • Identify and mitigate risks in the supply chain related to critical materials and work with cross-functional teams to develop contingency plans

Responsibilities:

We are seeking a Supply Chain Manager/ Specialist that will be critical in ensuring the smooth and efficient flow of materials, production, and logistics to support clinical trials, GMP manufacturing and development activities. This role focuses on Materials Requirements Planning (MRP), Production Planning, and Logistics coordination, ensuring that materials are available, production schedules are met, and products are delivered to meet internal and regulatory expectations. This role sits in the CMC team and reports to the Director of External Manufacturing.

Materials Requirements Planning (MRP):

  • Develop and manage MRP systems to ensure optimal inventory levels of raw materials, components, and finished goods.
  • Collaborate with procurement, suppliers, and quality teams to ensure the timely availability of materials, especially in the context of GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) requirements. Procurement for internal laboratory activities will also be required.
  • Monitor material usage, forecast demand, and adjust supply plans to avoid shortages or excess inventory.
  • Identify and mitigate risks in the supply chain related to critical materials and work with cross-functional teams to develop contingency plans.

Logistics and Distribution:

  • Manage logistics for inbound and outbound shipments, including coordination with third-party logistics providers (3PL) and freight carriers.
  • Ensure compliance with cold chain logistics requirements, such as temperature-controlled transport, for sensitive gene therapy products and critical starting materials.
  • Provide logistics support for the Development team (non-GMP shipments) ensuring samples and raw materials are shipped as required.
  • Oversee inventory storage, distribution, and documentation to meet regulatory expectations.
  • Plan and execute international shipments, ensuring all customs, import/export regulations, and transportation documentation are accurate and compliant.
  • Manage any supply disruptions by developing contingency plans to maintain the flow of materials and products.

Supplier Relationship Management (SRM):

  • Build, implement and maintain SRM process to ensure cost efficiency and quality.
  • Establish clear communication channels and regular performance reviews.
  • Foster collaboration and continuous improvement to build strong long-term partnerships with key suppliers.
