Join our team as a Supply Chain Manager supporting our Regional Civils Business Unit and you’ll help make this happen!
The role is accountable for managing the Supply Chain team for Regional Civils. The Supply Chain Manager will be expected to work closely with the operational Procurement Manager & the wider civils business. The successful candidate will be a point of contact in relation to their job role for the Area Leadership Teams in each area in the Regional Civils business.
They will be responsible development and implementation of a full overarching supply chain management strategy for strategic supply chain to manage business growth including identification and development of new suppliers and subcontractors where required.
We are open to base location for this role but nationwide travel will be expected.
What you’ll be doing

As Supply Chain Manager you will be accountable for:

  • Development and implementation of a full overarching supply chain management strategy for key supply chain to manage business growth including identification and development of new suppliers and subcontractors where required
  • To proactively collate demand within Regional Civils and liaise with the wider business to sustainably manage supply chain capacity.
  • To work with key stakeholders, considering Group wide customer requirements, to sensitively manage an allocation based procurement model.
  • To develop and implement a Strategic Supply Chain Management Programme for Regional Civils
  • Deliver the supply chain strategy for their allocated key trade(s)
  • Responsible for supporting Supply Chain Leads to successfully deliver objectives and associated stakeholder management
  • Developing & implementing effective plans for management of key suppliers, including corrective action plans and continuous improvement plans with progress tracking and reporting (including 360 reviews)
  • Work closely with Group Category Management to ensure key category strategies are aligned and prioritised and relevant BU representation is provided when required.
  • To support cross functional activities with other SCM from other business units to ensure alignment and capacity management
  • To develop and implement Supply Chain Charters/Frameworks as appropriate
  • Liaise with Safety, Quality & Sustainability team and technical specialists as required.
  • Work to exceed expected quality standards, comply with processes at all times and contribute to improvements.
  • Pro-actively support the behavioural safety programme and agreed Sustainability plans for Regional Civils
  • Demonstrate the Balfour Beatty Values at all times
  • Contribute positively to the achievement of high performance across the team
  • To work with supply chain partners to implement key sustainable procurement initiatives, D & I programmes and our digital agenda
  • Provide cover for Head of Procurement when required from time to time
  • Manage and deliver monthly supply chain dashboards demonstrating progress
  • Act as escalation point for both the team and business with regards to governance & behaviours
  • Responsible for support, coaching and progression of the team
  • Leading the team to deliver the following:
  • Deliver the supply chain strategy for their allocated key trade(s)
  • Active engagement on all tenders for key packages within their remit
  • Supplier meetings and engagement
  • Supporting the Operational Procurement team with Supply Chain Strategies
  • Turning Supply Chain Strategies into action
  • Negotiate & leverage scale
  • Supplier performance management
  • B2B Meetings
  • Commodity research and spend analysis
  • Point of contact for supply chain escalation for key packages within their remit
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with all stakeholders
  • Identify key trends or opportunities for cost reduction
  • Provide support, resolve queries and offer advice
  • Ensure accurate reporting of savings and value add activities
  • Ensure adherence to procurement processes and procedures

Who we’re looking for

The following skills and experience are required:

  • Relevant business degree or equivalent experience (desired)
  • Proven experience within a Supply Chain Management role
  • Demonstration of a proven track record in Supply Chain Management at a senior level
  • Strategic approach and the ability to see the big picture
  • Building strong relationships with the supply chain to foster trust and collaboration and ensure long term success
  • Collaborative stakeholder management that will deliver objectives
  • The successful candidate is expected to have experience in working as part of collaborative procurement programmes and projects
  • Strong project management skills, a measured approach to decision making and the ability to ensure best value procurement
  • The role would benefit from someone with experience of delivering supply chain
