The mining and processing of minerals needed for the battery such as cobalt, nickel, and lithium can have significant impacts on communities and their rights. Respecting human rights in these supply chains is key to Tesla’s mission.
We are looking for a Supply Chain Manager to lead our work on human rights and social issues in our battery supply chain.
What You’ll Do
- Engage with Tesla’s suppliers and Tesla’s procurement team to develop and implement measures related to human rights, worker rights, community engagement, artisanal and small-scale mining (ASM), Indigenous Peoples engagement, and other social topics in Tesla’s cobalt, nickel and lithium supply chains
- Owner of RFQ’s and contract management - ensure Non-Disclosure Agreements, General Terms & Conditions, Piece Price Agreements, and other related contracts are negotiated, agreed and appropriately documented before business is initiated
- Drive negotiation for piece price and product development to ensure that Tesla’s pricing meets best-landed-cost expectations as well as Supplier Industrialization standards of Best-In-Class quality
- Engage with NGOs, investors, industry groups (such as the Responsible Minerals Initiative (RMI), Fair Cobalt Alliance (FCA), Initiative for Responsible Mining Assurance (IRMA)), and other external stakeholders on these topics
- Participate in social audits, review audit reports and monitor the implementation of resulting corrective action plans
- Review traceability documentation to support supply chain mapping and trade compliance efforts
- Support the drafting of Tesla’s annual Impact Report, Modern Slavery & Child Labor Report, policy updates including the Global Human Rights Policy and the Responsible Sourcing Policy, and responses to customer/investor inquiries
- Travel to supplier sites to engage with suppliers, NGOs, and local communities
What You’ll Bring
- 4+ years’ professional experience
- Degree in Business, Social Sciences, Law, Mining or equivalent experience
- Strong expertise in human rights, worker rights, community engagement, artisanal and small-scale mining (ASM), and/or Indigenous Peoples engagement
- Excellent research and presentation skills with strong ability to organize and analyze data from diverse sources to communicate findings and recommendations to executive leadership
- Willingness to travel internationally independently, up to multiple weeks per quarter, work across multiple time zones such as Europe and Asia with off-hours meetings up to 3 times per week
- French language skills, knowledge of cobalt, nickel, and/or lithium mining, preferred
- Knowledge of responsible sourcing standards and frameworks, including the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, the OECD Due Diligence Guidance, the Initiative for Responsible Minerals Assurance (IRMA) Standard, and/or the RMI’s Responsible Minerals Assurance Process (RMAP)

Expected Compensation
$72,000 - $162,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
