Description:

Position

The Sourcing Engineer works for the Supply Chain team as a technical resource supporting the product development/launch process for externally supplied hydromechanical products, electronic assemblies, and other products or services of a technical and specialized nature. This high visibility position helps to assess supplier capabilities prior to supplier selection, as well as supports the technical aspects of new product development as first parts are manufactured. This candidate will work with suppliers to identify opportunities for manufacturability improvements in new designs, and to address delivery challenges, part execution and quality issues that may arise during the initial manufacturing process. Responsibilities

  • Provide early Engineering support/feedback on supplier capabilities and technical risks during design and proposal phase.
  • During Supplier Execution stage, follow technical progress of supplier with a process-oriented approach to ensure supplier is meeting engineering and commercial requirements.
  • Interface with internal teams and Suppliers in respectful way; facilitate productive communications between Engineering and Supplier regarding technical risks, challenges and opportunities.
  • Uphold Quality and Process System requirements; work within quality system to manage review and disposition of supplier non-conformities. Support RCCA process with supplier as needed.
  • Review/provide feedback on new design and layout drawings for Supply Chain
  • Hold stakeholders accountable for schedule, cost and technical requirements.
  • Use technical skillset to bring cost reduction ideas to Supplier/Engineering Qualifications
  • Bachelor or Associate degree in technical field, Engineering degree preferred
  • Experience working in a technical capacity in a Manufacturing Environment, preferably working on cross-functional teams
  • Experience working with external manufacturers and/or service providers
  • Ability to define problems, analyze data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills for effective interface with all internal and external contacts.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Creative, quality, and results-driven work ethic.
  • Strong PC skills (Word, Excel, Access, & PowerPoint).
  • Travel Required ~30%
