Position: Supply Chain Specialist
Location: Richmond, BC, Canada

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Reporting to the VP Engineering, the Supply Chain Specialist is responsible for overseeing the company’s overall supply chain and logistics strategy in order to maximize efficiency and productivity. General Fusions engineers and scientists are tasked with innovating projects that require sourcing unique or hard to find technologies, components or services, often times adaptable from other industries. These are used in both one-time experimental apparatuses, and for our core fusion machine technology. This role will support General Fusion innovators by providing expert support in all aspect of supplier relations, drawing on our own technology network and by establishing new supply partnerships. Acting as the Supply Chain point of contact, this role will engage with R&D, Engineering and Purchasing teams to find, establish, and support qualification of strategic suppliers and components, as well as identify bottlenecks and implement solutions to improve operational efficiencies and reduce cost.

RELEVANT SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

Education – Post Secondary Degree in relevant field (Engineering degree an asset)

Required:

  • 7+ years’ directly relevant experience in procurement, engineering, supply chain and / or quality management, preferably within a technical / R&D environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of supply chain engineering operations and best practices including:
  • Experience in working cross functionally on creation of non-disclosure agreements (NDAs), supplier and component assessment documentation and on-site audits, and change control processes
  • Experience in creating, issuing and analyzing RFI/RFP/RFQ and supplier cost break down documents
  • negotiation skills and proven ability to use product design knowledge to assist reduction in unit cost and optimization of supplier capacity allocation and to manage partner accountability
  • Aptitude to find and assess unique suppliers.
  • Experience with IP management and Purchase agreements for technical goods and services.
  • Quality assurance and associated best practices in supplier relations.
  • Ability to perform in a dynamic and collaborative environment with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Preferred:

  • Experience as a technology development engineer, supply chain engineer, or procurement engineer
  • Certification in Quality Assurance

The successful applicant to this position brings a passion for helping engineers realize their design vision, along with the ability to understand engineering specifications and convey key messages important to suppliers.
Expected Salary Range: $95,000 - $125,000

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain new and existing supplier relationships and act as the technical liaison between suppliers and General Fusion’s R&D, Engineering and Purchasing teams.
  • Research potential supplier sources ensuring prices are globally competitive and understand market price for key components.
  • Manage sourcing activity coordination and processes for sourcing duties, including leading or participating in cross functional teams to perform supplier selection, capability assessment, quality improvement, and supplier readiness assessments
  • Work with Finance & Purchasing to develop and implement strategies to improve supplier productivity/quality, and ensure supply chain continuity
  • Facilitate communication between suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Determine key supply chain metrics
  • Provide constructive feedback to the organization to drive continuous improvement.
