At Llamau we believe that no young person or vulnerable woman should ever have to experience homelessness. Our mission is to eradicate homelessness for young people and vulnerable women. But for thousands of the most vulnerable people in Wales, homelessness is a frightening reality.
30 years ago Llamau was founded to provide homeless teenagers with a safe place to stay. Since then, we have supported over 67,000 young people, women and their children who are either homeless or facing homelessness.
Many people think the job of a homelessness charity will be to provide accommodation - a safe place to stay. But it is very clear to us that for most people who are facing homelessness, their problems are far more complex than a lack of permanent shelter.
That’s why we treat everyone who needs our support as an individual. We recognise their unique strengths and needs and make sure that they are supported to rebuild their futures

Responsibilities:

ROLE OVERVIEW:

  • A service that is about much more than offering young people a roof over their head. It’s about giving them a safe and inclusive home and help to achieve their potential, transition into independent living, and engage in employment or education
  • You’ll offer day-to-day emotional and practical support to motivate and empower young people to gain independence and reach their full potential
  • You’ll provide support and advice in line with support plans and as requested by the young person’s keyworker, working collaboratively as part of a team who embrace differences and creative thinking

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS ROLE?

  • The ability to engage and build strong relationships with young people while understanding the impacts of homelessness, domestic abuse and trauma
  • A forward-thinking attitude to crisis response
  • The ability to remain calm and collected in challenging and traumatic situations
