Eurostat, headquartered in Luxembourg, is the EU’s statistical office responsible for providing high-quality statistics that enable comparisons across Europe. It collaborates within the European Statistical System (ESS), comprising national statistical institutes (NSIs) and other authorities across Member States, as well as EEA and EFTA countries.
Eurostat’s “IT Solutions for Statistical Production” unit manages critical systems like EDAMIS (Electronic Data Files Administration and Management Information System), which serves as the central hub for data exchange within ESS since 2008. This ensures efficient, secure, and monitored transmission of statistical datasets.
The Micro-data Exchange (MDE) system enhances intra-EU trade statistics by minimizing data duplication, thereby reducing administrative burdens while maintaining data quality and reliability.
