Description:

The post holder will provide administration services to Ward 201 which sits within the Oncology, Haematology, Immunology & Medical Physics Directorate. They will be expected to work on his or her own initiative in accordance with the management requirements and will be responsible for the standard of their own work. The nature of the work requires someone who is aware of patient confidentiality, trustworthy and with the ability to deal professionally and effectively with all staff, external agencies and the public.
You will be enthusiastic, motivated with excellent organisation and interpersonal skills to work as part of the Ward 201 team, taking direction from the Ward Manager/Deputy Ward Manager, to ensure the smooth running of the Ward.
We are a very busy Ward and the post involves liaising with a number of departments and handling queries from a range of sources. The post holder will also be responsible for maintaining accurate records and collating information with a high degree of accuracy. All aspects of the work must be carried out in accordance with the Trust Policies and Procedures in respect of maintaining patient confidentiality and Health and Safety.
Supporting the Ward Manager in daily admin duties.
Supporting the Ward Manager to arrange and minute meetings.
Audio typing of meetings and other correspondence as required.
Deal with telephone calls and verbal enquires in a polite and responsive manner.
Filing, photocopying, ordering of stationery and reporting faults of equipment.
To work as part of a team, and to be adaptable to change within your own and Directorate environment.
Liaising with medical staff and other departments/hospitals as appropriate.
Effective management of queries as appropriate
A good level of organisational skills will be necessary.
The post holder will be required to prioritise tasks and respond to unexpected events changing priorities and adapting the works schedule accordingly.
Implements policies for own work area and proposes changes to working practices or procedures for own work area.
The post holder will be expected to contribute to the continuous improvement and development of the service, identifying areas for change/improvement and implementing changes in practice identified through other routes.
The post holder will assist with flow throughout the Ward when required.
The post holder will support the Ward Management team with sickness monitoring and reviews.
The post holder will support the Ward Manager with the recruitment and selection process.
