Description:
Central Interior Native Health Society (CINHS) is a vibrant urban Indigenous Integrated Health Team Centre and educational facility situated on Lheidli T’enneh territory in Prince George, BC. The Clinic’s inter-disciplinary team provides trauma-informed and culturally safe, medical and psychosocial services to some of the most vulnerable members of our community.
A casual part-time (15 to 22.hours per week) opportunity until May 2025 exists for a Support Worker to join our interdisciplinary team to help increase accessibility to health and social services for northern Indigenous and people who have, or are at risk of Human Immunodeficiency Virus/ Hepatitis C Virus (HIV/HCV). A support worker will provide person centered support, advocacy, and assistance navigating community services.
Who we are looking for:
- 1 year experience working as Support Worker or a similar position would be an asset, but not required
- A comprehensive understanding of the issues facing vulnerable populations
- Excellent written and oral communication
- Knowledgeable with computer applications such and Microsoft Office
- Extensive cultural knowledge and ability to teach
- Familiar with community support agencies
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
- Ability to build and maintain trusting relationships with clients
- Ability to understand and value diversity and complexity in human relations
- Ability to exercise confidentiality, and exert tact, diplomacy and discretion in handling information of confidential and/or sensitive nature
- Leadership that includes public speaking to groups of women, that integrates Indigenous culture and spirituality, through facilitating groups, and ceremonies
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and relationship-building skills with clients, as well as with outside service providers and agencies
- Be an approachable person with a focus on building relationships, conflict resolution, and working with people with a history of trauma
- Support the establishment and maintenance of positive relationships between the client and the service providers they interact with
- Be able to give direction, and set goals with measurable targets
- Ability to complete in-depth charting using standardized coding with all client encounters
