The Community Resources Programs (currently CRC, Family Programs, Food Programs, Immigrant Services, and Literacy Programs) provide specialized centres for the community to access support and achieve Lift’s vision.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Diploma with training in a related field
- Minimum 2 years’ experience working with ESL students or ESL newcomers
- Familiarity with/knowledge of community services and resources for individuals and families
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Cultural sensitivity and non-judgmental attitude
- Written and verbal command of English
- Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to plan and organize activities for adults
- Computer literacy including Microsoft Word, spreadsheets, & Zoom
- Requires Vulnerable Sector Check and/or Criminal Record Check clearance.
Responsibilities:
- Conducts intake and Needs Assessments with newcomer clients
- Develops Settlement Plans to address identified needs
- Refers clients to other services and programs as appropriate
- Provides individual and family settlement counseling and crisis support
- Develops and maintains a list of local community service partners for referral and inquiry
- Provides information newcomers need to settle in Powell River/qathet and prepare to be active citizens and succeed in work, school, and community life
- Assists newcomers with multiple barriers to access settlement and crisis support services
- Plans and supports opportunities for intercultural exchange
- Refers clients to the Society of Translators and Interpreters of BC
- Updates or creates new orientations with the Immigrant Services
- Enters monthly data into I-CARE
- Maintains records as required
- Works with Immigrant Services Co-Lead & Community Resources Manager to compile information and complete reports as required including performance assessment and evaluation
- Recruits newcomers to participate in programs, orientation sessions, and events
