SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

- Experience or interest in aged care and/or disability support (training will be provided for the right candidates).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A flexible and patient approach to care.
- The ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
- A valid driver - s license and reliable transport.
- Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth.
- Experience in projects / initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principals and frameworks, and the application of Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings.

Responsibilities:
ABOUT THE ROLE
Join our team and provide essential care to the intellectually and/or physically disabled people across the Nelson and Wairau communities. Support worker role is essential for continuity of core service delivery to in community homes.
As a Support Worker, you will play a vital role in improving the quality of life for people in aged care and disability settings. Your care, compassion, and dedication will ensure that clients feel supported, valued, and empowered to maintain their independence. These are permanent part-time positions with fixed hours and days, offering stability and the chance to build lasting relationships with those you support.
The working hours are between 3:30pm- 10:00pm Thursday - Saturday.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide personal care, including assistance with bathing, dressing, and grooming.
- Support clients with daily living tasks such as meal preparation, household chores, and shopping.
- Facilitate and encourage social engagement and recreational activities.
- Administer medication and monitor client health (training provided).
- Offer emotional support and companionship, ensuring clients feel respected and heard.
- Maintain accurate records of client progress and communicate effectively with team members and families
