ABOUT US
Sunset Rehabilitation Centre in New Malden is a 24/7 support centre dedicated to helping individuals achieve independence and reintegrate into the community. We provide tailored assistance with daily living activities, including cooking, cleaning, and social engagement, alongside accommodation during rehabilitation. Specialising in offender and drug rehabilitation, mental health support, and anxiety management, we also offer training in fire safety, first aid, food hygiene, and stress management, alongside therapeutic services to promote holistic recovery.
Job type: Full-time and Part-time roles available
Schedules: 12-hour shift, Day shift, Weekend availability
Location: Kingston Upon Thames
As a Support Assistant you will;
- Assist client with daily activities, including meal preparation, hygiene routines, and recreational play.
- Foster independence and social skills through engaging in activities and positive interactions.
- Support the client in their emotional and social development, particularly those with anxiety or mental health challenges.
- Work closely with families, therapists, and team members to create individualised care plans for each child.
- Maintain a safe and clean environment, adhering to health and hygiene standards.
- Conduct regular safety checks and follow safeguarding procedures.
- To ensure the highest standards of care, participants must participate in training sessions on fire safety, first aid, food hygiene, and other relevant topics.
- Stay informed on best practices for supporting clients with additional needs.
- Maintain accurate records of client’s activities, progress, and any incidents.
- Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and other staff members regarding updates and concerns.
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Childcare, or equivalent (preferred).
- Experience working with clients, particularly in environments requiring additional care and support.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to create a nurturing, safe, and stimulating environment for clients.
- Patience, empathy, and a caring nature when supporting clients with diverse needs.
- Ability to work as part of a team and adapt to the needs of a 24/7 care environment.
- Basic understanding of child development and safeguarding practices.
- Awareness of health and safety regulations, including fire safety and first aid (training available if required).
- Familiarity with stress management techniques for clients (desirable).
